- Do I use Vizit instead of my existing website?
No. You integrate Vizit within you existing website. It can appear within a panel in an already existing page of your choice or you can create a new page at your site that you will dedicate to Vizit. Vizit is also integrated with your product catalogue and on-line cart and payment system. - How do my website visitors access my catalogue or specific product pages once I deploy Vizit on my site?
Your existing catalogue and product pages can continue to be accessed as before, independently of Vizit. When you install Vizit, researchers who use it can access your catalogue and specific product pages from Vizit as well. So Vizit provides an additional point of access to your products and catalogue. - Does Vizit reside on my website or on Biovista’s website?
The user interface of Vizit resides on your website. The “back end” that supports the questions and supplies the Vizit data resides on Biovista’s servers. Your product data continue to reside on your site. - Where does my existing Cart reside once I install Vizit?
Your cart functionality remains as before. It resides on your website under your control. - Where does my existing on-line payment functionality reside once I install Vizit?
Your on-line payment functionality remains as before. It resides on your website under your control. - Does installing Vizit require additional work for my IT department?
Yes, but this is minimal. Your IT department will need to collaborate with Biovista to integrate the Vizit interface with your existing site and to link Vizit with your product catalogue. Please see the technical documentation for more information. - Why do I need to integrate my product catalogue with Vizit?
You do this so that Vizit ‘knows’ which of your products to show to the researcher/user when she is looking at a specific gene or cell line she is working with. In this way you get to pick which search terms you link each of your products with. - What additional work does installing Vizit create for my sales department?
Your sales department will need to collaborate with Biovista in relation with the Vizit Analytics service. With Vizit Analytics you can compare your sales data with Vizit usage data and identify opportunities for offers and promotions targeted at specific organizations or even individuals scientists/customers. - My product catalogue changes with product deletions, updates and additions. How does Vizit handle this?
Any changes to your catalogue need to be reflected in Vizit’s database in order for it to be up-to-date. This work is shared between your IT department and Biovista and is part of the ongoing maintenance of your site. Alternatively, you may choose to have Vizit directly query your own catalog search engine, in which case the update is automatic. - What are “Vizit” search terms?
Vizit has a very large database that contains over 1.5 million terms such as “apoptosis”, “HIF-1” and “LNCAP” covering research in biology and the life sciences. These terms are organized into categories such as genes, pathways, PTMs, cell lines and more. For example, the gene category has all the genes from over 200 organisms. Currently there are over 30 such categories you can pick from and onto which you can map your products. - How does Vizit help me sell more?
It helps you sell more in four powerful ways:- With Vizit you make available through your website a tool that helps scientists search the scientific bibliography and that can be useful to them on a daily basis for their research work independently of whether they are buying a product or not. This alone gives them reason to keep returning to your website not only when they want to buy your products but in order to conduct part of their other work, thereby creating tremendous good will for you. Moreover, through Vizit scientists can find your products that are closely relevant to what they are working on (be it a specific gene, cell line or pathway) thereby increasing the probability of the sale. We call this in-context selling℠.
- Through it’s interface, Vizit can easily show related products creating powerful up-selling and cross-selling opportunities.
- Vizit allows your users to share information and get in contact, thereby creating viral sale opportunities.
- With Vizit you can create “teaser networks” around active areas of research (for example on a specific disease, pathway or protein) and share these proactively via Twitter and other social media and postings to relevant blogs and discussion groups. See @BiovistaVizit for examples.
- Is Vizit a software solution?
No. Vizit is a set of “widgets” you add to your website as well as a very large database of scientific publications and a network of correlations between search terms of interest to the life-sciences and biology researcher. - Can I customize Vizit to my own website?
Absolutely. You decide on the look and feel of Vizit during the set up and integration of the software with your site so that it reflects your brand. You further customize Vizit through the mix of functionalities that you choose to implement. Vizit offers a number of capabilities that are added to your website as “Widgets”. You get to pick which of these you implement and thereby create you own branded service for your website visitors. - My product catalogue is pretty large. Can Vizit handle it?
Absolutely. Vizit is designed to handle catalogues from 1000 to multiple hundreds of thousands of products. - My catalogue only contains a few thousand products. How can I be sure that Vizit users will get to see them?
You link each of your products to as many search terms as you consider are relevant, and so each product has multiple opportunities for being seen by the user. Vizit also suggests related networks to its users and your products may be further accessed through these as well, having additional opportunities of being seen by the researcher. - How does Vizit support my brand?
Vizit is a visual search engine of PubMed publications. It lets scientists discover non-obvious connections between genes, pathways, diseases, drugs, cell lines and more and helps scientists with their research work. By offering scientists access to Vizit through your website, you actively help them with what they care most about – their own research. And because your site visitors can share Vizit search results with their colleagues, they contribute to your brand awareness, generating new traffic on your behalf. - What is the cost and business model for integrating Vizit with my web website?
Vizit is made available through a subscription model. Subscription is annual, with bimonthly payments paid in advance. You can cancel at any time. When you sign up there is a minimum period of 4 months (we recommend though 6 months to allow Vizit to make a difference to your online sales results). There is a setup fee payable upon contract signature. This fee depends on the size of your catalogue and the Vizit features selected.
